Governors

The Remit of the Governing Body

The main purpose of the Hutton Rudby Primary School Governing Body is to:

  • Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of our school.
  • Hold leaders to account for educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
  • Oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.
  • Ensure that the voices of stakeholders are heard.

The Structure of our Governing Body

The governing body has considerable discretion as to how to discharge its responsibilities but is required to constitute itself in line with the regulations and to appoint a chair and vice chair. The governing body may delegate certain parts of its responsibilities to certain governors or committees of governors.

Our governing body meets approximately 9 times each year as a full governing body and doesn’t have any active sub-committees as it has been agreed that all our governors wish to know about all aspects of the school’s works.

Our current chair of governors is Mr Adam Hodge and our vice chair of governors is Mr Simon Pollitt.  Mrs Penny Fenton is our clerk to the governing body, who can be contacted via the school office (admin@huttonrudby.n-yorks.sch.uk).

Our School’s Instrument of Government

The instrument of government sets out the constitution of a maintained school’s governing body. This means how many governors of each type the school has and the length of their terms of office if they are not the default four-year term.  All our governors serve for a 4 year period.
