Extra-curricular activity
We aim to offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs to children across school. Read on to find out about some of the fantastic experiences that we offer. For any information about joining one of our clubs, please contact the school office.
We offer a range of private music tuition, mostly provided by the wildly talented Mr. Gilson (who played in the brass band that made up part of the London 2012 Opening Ceremony). Please contact the school office for more info.

Lunchtime LEGO Club
Ran by the wonderful Mrs Banks, LEGO club offers children the chance to let their creative juices flow. Children are free to build whatever they want (just as LEGO intended) and can save their projects to add to over multiple weeks. This is a very popular club in school!
Lunchtime Chess / Boardgames Club
The educational benefits of chess are limitless, so why not take part in Mrs Aldcoin’s chess club. Develop problem solving skills and challenge your friends in this incredibly fun club.
Lunchtime Sewing Club
Mrs Marriner and Miss Clark are here to help you create some lovely garments, right here at school. Want to be a top surgeon? Why not work on that dexterity at sewing club?
Gymnastics
Mrs Dury offers three seperate, wildly popular and successful gymnastics clubs. Children can begin as early at Year 1, and continue progressing until they are representing the school at gymnastics competitions in Year 6. Mrs Dury has ran this gym club for many years now and our gymnasts have made the school proud on many occasions, and many different events.
Year 5 / 6 Football Club
Join Mr. Johnson as he tries to go one step further than the glorious season of 2017-2018 and reaches a Wembley cup final (we really were one match away from Wembley…) This football club is open to Years 5 and 6 and is the place to be if you want to represent the school at football. Lots of skills practise and matches going on here.
Year 3 / 4 Football Club
Qualified coach Dan Fowler and his team run this football club, where the children will learn all manner of skills and improve their techniques and they have a lot of fun playing the beautiful game.
Mini Messis
Do you fancy yourself as the next Messi? Are you in Year 1 or 2? If the answer to both of these questions is yes then come along to Mini Messis, a brilliant club for the little ones run by Dan and his team. A great introduction to football with a big focus on fun!
Wildlife Club
Mr Beckwith and Mrs Ruddy have a great time looking after the various animals we have in school. From Beryl the three legged guiea pig to DR DANGER the snake, we have the whole animal kingdom under our roof and they need your help! Join this club to help keep these critters happy. Who knows, maybe you’ll get to name one of the new fish in the aquarium!
Netball Club
Join Mrs Dury for two separate netball sessions if you are in Year 5 or 6. This is another club that has produced some incredibly successful teams, and Mrs Dury can’t wait to get another one out on the court to bring more glory to Hutton Rudby!
Drama Club
Mrs Trevis and Miss Templeman currently have the lead roles in drama club, but they are looking for some young actors and actresses to usurp them! Maybe there is an Osacr or Golden Globe in your future? The only way to find out is by coming to drama club.
Warhammer Club
Mr Beckwith’s passion! Once you reach Year 4 or above you can learn so much about art, design, tactics and even maths at Warhammer. Create crazy sci-fi figures and lead them into battle, led by one of the North East’s leading Warhammer experts. Once you get stuck in to this club you have a hobby for life!
Dodgeball Club
A playground favourite, dodgeball teaches children brilliant throwing and catching skills as well as, of course, the 5 Ds of dodgeball, dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge! Provided by Dan Fowler and his team, this club is really popular and available to Year 3 and above.
Radio
Whilst not a regular ‘club’, our children all get the opportunity to work closely with a local online radio station – Leven Valley Online Radio. The children, working with Mr. Johnson, create monthly shows for the station where they talk about whatever is going on at the time either in school or in the wider world (children have discussed what they love about Christmas, Summer, school, their thoughts on COVID and have played a wide range of hits over the airwaves). You can listen to Leven Valley Online Radion here. To listen to some of school’s work directly, click here.
