Music

Music plays a very important role in our school. We believe in giving children the opportunity to develop their musical awareness and skills by receiving a weekly music lesson as well as having many other opportunities to express their musical flair. Mr Oliver Whawell is not only a multi talented musical genius, but also our school music teacher. The children are taught a range of skills which progress across each year group. Every Tuesday individual guitar lessons are offered to the children and on a Wednesday small group woodwind and brass lessons take place. Additionally on a Thursday morning our Year 4 children have a whole class samba drumming lesson in the Autumn term and a whole class Ukulele lesson in the Spring term.

On top of the above, Musicworks offer keyboard and drumming lessons to our children every Wednesday and Thursday. This cumulates in a musicworks assembly at the end of each term where the children can showcase their talents!

Every Friday lunchtime, Mr Whawell runs our school choir. Our choir regularly sing at local community church, All Saints.

Music plays a huge part in our school drama productions. We give the children the opportunity to showcase their skills in our productions, helping them gain confidence performing in front of an audience.
