Here at Hutton Rudby we want our children to leave the school as well rounded, caring, compassionate citizens who understand their rights, mental health and bodies and are confident speaking about these things.

Each class contributes to our CHILD book, which evidences all of our PSHE lessons and assemblies. All children have the opportunity to have their voices heard in these sessions and are able to contribute to the discussion verbally, and have their contributions saved for posterity on a post-it note in the book. The CHILD books are available for all children to read at all times.

The children keep up to date with major world events through Picture News, a child friendly look at the events of the day. The class talk through these events in class assemblies with their teachers and have the chance to form opinions and reflect on what is happening in the world. Teachers guide the discussion and facilitate an honest, open, engaging and friendly environment in which all children feel empowered and able to contribute.

12:30 To introduce the first meeting all school councillors discussed 'What makes a good school councillor?', the responses are above.

12:40 All school councillors discussed the school dinner menu for next term, ensuring the options were varied, healthy and enjoyable for children across the school.

At Hutton Rudby Primary School we are committed to providing every child with an excellent education.

We believe in following the Government's guidelines:

In line with Government requirements, at Hutton Rudby Primary School we have developed the curriculum in order to illustrate our commitment to ‘British Values’.  We value the diversity and differences of all our pupils and celebrate this through our culture, ethos, approach to lessons and our respectful relationships we promote.  Commitment and celebration of diversity makes us collectively stronger, tolerant and respectful to all.

Our curriculum is devoted to British Values. We use the 'Picture news' learning resources and encourage transparency and openness in pupil lead discussions about current affairs news topics each week, linked to an individual British Value.

Additionally, in Key Stage 2, pupils this year will undertake a topic about World War 1 and 2 and their impact upon our society, then and now.  Remembrance Day is commemorated and a two minute’s silence is observed. Throughout the school, a number of influential people and eras are studied in our Cornerstones curriculum that supports all aspects of modern day Britain.
