School Closures Information 19.3.2020
We are truly living in unprecedented times. As you will no doubt be aware, the Government has made a number of announcements in relation to measures to prevent the further spread of Coronavirus Covid-19. I have been overwhelmed by the fantastic support from our families, wonderful dedication and commitment of our staff and our amazing, resilient children.
The health and safety of our pupils, staff and the wider school community is, as always, our number one priority. We have taken all the necessary precautions since the national outbreak to prevent it from impacting upon our school and to keep pupils safe. I thank you for the understanding and cooperation you have shown
Yesterday, the Government announced that schools will close on Friday for all but the most vulnerable children, and those children with parents who are deemed ‘key workers’. Therefore, regrettably I have to inform you that we will be partially closing the school from the end of Friday 20th March until further notice.
We are still awaiting exact confirmation from the Government as to what is the exact definition of a keyworker. As soon as we are given this information we will update everyone. We realise this is not ideal and presents a significant challenge for families and for school planning. Undoubtedly, this will also cause disruption for those families with children who are required to stay at home. We have robust plans in place so that your child can continue their education during this time. As always, we are committed to ensuring that our pupils receive the best possible education and will be working hard to minimise the impact of the closure on your child’s education. Please also be aware that we will be supporting the pupils in ensuring that their positive mental health and emotional wellbeing is catered for in this period of uncertainty and change.
Throughout the coming weeks, your child will have a range of activities that will support their learning and wellbeing. These learning resources can be found in your child’s Year Group class page on the school website. To access these resources, go to our school website http://huttonrudbyprimary.co.uk. Click on Year Groups, then select the appropriate year (make sure it is followed by 2019/20) where you will be directed to a number of educational resources. To access class specific resources scroll down to homework and click there. You will find a heading entitled Self Isolation Home Learning with a range of resources available to continue your child’s learning. We will be updating these resources on a regular basis. The staff will also be posting videos of themselves explaining how to undertake certain tasks and activities. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to access the school website, then please let school know and we will make other arrangements for your child.
As mentioned, we are living in unprecedented times with many opinions and rumours circulating regarding what will happen next. We will continue to stick to the facts we are presented with and keep you regularly informed about developments in school.
