Brilliant Bewerley
The following has been written by 3 of our Year 6 children (Jenny, Daniel C and Lucy) who had a great time at Bewerley Park recently. Lucy, Jenny & Daniel were all in the same group, but their story is representative of the whole class. Everybody did the same activities across the week.
On Monday, we arrived on a bus, just in time to stop Lucy being sick. We got given a tour of the site and put our luggage in our dorms, boys in 5S, girls in 2S. We were given set of waterproofs and walking boots. We put our equipment in our dorms and met our group leaders. Four our first activity we got on a different bus and headed over to Brimham Rocks. We did climbing, jumping and crawling through some small spaces. That night, we had sausages and jelly.
The next day, we did a bushcraft activity where we built shelters, then had hot chocolate and marshmallows. After lunch, we went to Blayshaw Ghyll. We had to wear wetsuits, swimming costumes, t-shirts, 2 pairs of socks wellies and a full set of waterproofs. We climbed up the ghyll then slid back down and jumped off a high ledge into a deep pool. That night we ate tomato pasta.
The next day we went on a walk. We went to a sweet shop and a park. For our afternoon activity we did some team games. For dinner that night we had pork.
On Thursday, we went kayaking. We wore wetsuits again and went to a lake nearby. That afternoon, we did a treasure hunt. At the end, we had to pull Grace up a tree! On Thursday night we had burgers and choc ices, and had lots of time in the common room.
On Friday, we did high ropes. We only had time to do the leap of faith. We climbed a high pole, then leapt off it. After that, we got our stuff left and went home.
